Agile Mindset

Implementing an Agile Mindset requires patience, adaptability, and a willingness to let go of control, but the end result can be incredibly rewarding.

My team leader and I, as representative leaders leading the Agile transformation, were asked to share our expertise on the process utilized in the Cyber department's UX organization. Our aim was to demonstrate how the Agile mindset can be enhanced throughout the organization. We presented our discoveries and suggestions to the VP GM.

To begin, we conducted several focus group sessions to discuss the various obstacles faced by the organization in implementing Agile. We discovered that most of the obstacles were common across the organization. The major obstacles were the lack of cross-functional collaboration and alignment between different domain members, particularly during the Release Management Process (RMP), and insufficient engagement and transparency with respect to customer needs.

After identifying the main obstacles, we engaged in a brainstorming session and drew inspiration from both external and internal Agile practices, including the RMP process and the UX team's practices. This led to the development of the next-generation Agile principles, such as team transparency and collaboration, and feedback lifecycle quickness.

With these principles in mind, we worked together to devise practical solutions that would help the organization adopt the new Agile principles we had acquired. We began by considering how to make the RMP more practical and connect it to the organization’s Agile practices.

In the next phase, we conducted an ideation session with select members of the organization to generate solutions or ideas to achieve the principles. We clustered the solutions and created a complete table. As evident from the table, many of the solutions can achieve more than one principle.

Overall, we presented approximately 20 solutions, and we are delighted to see that this opportunity to contribute to the organization's growth mindset driven by Agile principles and beneficial practices is already yielding progress and evolution.
